The Immobilizer Chip
A key that is chipped (often called a Smart Key) has an RFID micro-chip inside it that transmits a password to the car's immobilizer system. If the code on the chip matches the system of the car, then the car will begin to move.
This is an important anti-theft device that prevents car thieves from hotwiring or otherwise overriding the engine immobilizer system. If the immobilizer doesn't recognize the key, it won't allow the engine to turn on, even if someone tries to short-circuit the ignition circuit.
Most modern cars have advanced electronic Engine Immobilizer systems that employ rolling/changing security codes. This means that each time the key is used, the smart system changes the second code, and then pushes it into the chip within the key. The first code is permanent, and the immobilizer is able to check the codes each time the ignition key is turned.
This is a very advanced technology that is extremely difficult to hack. This is the reason that most stolen vehicles aren't able to be started. The Battery
Peugeot car keys contain transponder chips which, when used in conjunction with the vehicle, disables the immobiliser system of the vehicle located within the ECU (engine control unit). This was to ensure that lower models of the 306 and 106 could draw sales away from the more expensive quality 205s.
The 206 range includes the hatchback, a 2-door coupe cabriolet, and an a-station wagon referred to as the 206 CC and 206 SW respectively. There was also an WRC homologated version of the 206 called the 207 GTi, which did 0-100 km/h in 7.4 seconds and the top speed of 210 km/h.
